France
France mostly meant to me Paris, where my nightmare tried to avoid the
famous attractions and preferred the picturesque cemeteries. When I came to
Brittany,  I was immediately caught by its mystery. The wild forest of
Huelgouat is said to be the place, where King Arthur and the magician Merlin
lived in legendary times. Seeing this place you may take this for sure!
Abandoned village houses are not demolished, but remain standing in
between the newer ones. Built only with natural materials they just decay and
fade away in a natural process.
My experience of the Lorraine was dominated by the remains of World War I’s
cruelty. The area around Verdun is filled with fortress systems, battlefields and
huge military cemeteries. Unbelievable, that all this suffering couldn’t prevent
a World War II!
