Miscellaneous 2
Environment
The discussion about environmental problems like overfishing, dying of the forests and global
warming kept me occupied since it came up in the 70th. Therefore my Ark is shown as a pretty
wreck and the rainbow, the old sign, that never a Flood shall come again, is ripping. And the blind
seer is a witness of pollution himself.
1988 the Island Anholt, where I always spent my summer holidays, became the center of a great
seal epidemics, which killed the entire population of a few hundreds. Will demonstrations help? I am
sceptical about enthusiasts and ideologists. In my painting the demonstration is misled into a forest,
where some strange things happen. Will anyone come back?

What may look like a vision of 9/11 a quart
century before was just my imagination of
nature, symbolized by sprouting potatoes,
recapturing human civilisation. I just had a
photo of New York fitting to this idea...

Transcendence
Once a friend brought to me some empty skins of Australian cicadas and I was fascinated by these
delicate left overs with the small opening in the back, where the animal had crawled out. They
became in my imagination signs pointing to a spiritual existence beyond this life and i used them for
several paintings.

These dead birds lay at the shore in a flying like
position and gave me the imagination of
transcending into another existence.
