Punch Theaters
When I became friends with a puppeteer in Denmark I was inspired to work
out some Punch scenes in aquatint. I also made to each piece a surrounding
theater decorated according to the scene. To get a kind of third dimension
effect the theater was glued on thick cardboard with the place of the scene cut
out and the scene fixed behind it.
The size of the scene is 3.9x5.9, that of the theater 11.5x7.5 and the entire piece
19.6x13.7.
I had planned an edition of 40, but the work was so immense, that I didn’t
more than 20 of each and even if I have the saved plates, I don’t think to finish
this lavish work, which would me make feeling like my own slave!
